Can dogs eat pizza?
Skip — the crust is fine, everything on it isn't.
Why
Pizza brings fatty cheese, salty processed meats, garlic, onion, and sometimes spicy peppers. A plain crust corner won't hurt; a slice is a stomach upset waiting to happen.
What to do instead
Skip, or a bite of plain crust.
Symptoms to watch for
Vomiting, diarrhoea, pancreatitis; allium anaemia from garlic and onion.
If your dog has eaten pizza, don't wait for symptoms.
Call your vet, or in the US the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) or Pet Poison Helpline (855-764-7661), 24 hours a day. Have the amount, the time and any packaging ready.
