The pet photo guide
The better the photo, the better the likeness. Two minutes here saves a repaint later.
Photos that paint beautifully
- Taken at your pet's eye level, face clearly visible
- Soft daylight — near a window or outside in shade
- Sharp focus on the eyes and nose
- The whole head and chest in the frame
- 3–5 photos from slightly different angles
Photos that fight the brush
- Harsh flash or strong shadows across the face
- Blurry, far away, or heavily filtered shots
- Face partly hidden — toys, hands, other pets
- Extreme top-down angles
