Can dogs eat ginger?
A little fresh ginger can settle a dog's stomach.
Why
Fresh ginger in small amounts is safe and sometimes used for nausea and car sickness. Large amounts irritate the stomach; gingerbread and ginger biscuits add sugar and often nutmeg.
How to serve it
A pinch of grated fresh ginger on food.
If they eat too much
Stomach upset, heartburn with large amounts.
How much ginger for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 1 g a day — a pea-sized piece · fresh, grated pinch.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
