Can dogs eat chamomile?
Weak cooled chamomile tea can calm a dog's stomach; not the plant in quantity.
Why
Chamomile is generally safe for dogs in small amounts and is used in calming treats. Large amounts of the plant cause stomach upset, and a few dogs are allergic.
How to serve it
A spoonful of weak, cooled, unsweetened chamomile tea, occasionally.
If they eat too much
Vomiting, diarrhoea, skin irritation with large amounts or allergy.
How much chamomile for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 15 g a day — about 1 tablespoon · weak cooled tea.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
