Can dogs eat pineapple?
Yes, a few fresh chunks — never canned in syrup.
Why
Fresh pineapple carries vitamins, minerals and bromelain, an enzyme that helps protein digestion. It's high in sugar and acid, so small amounts only. The tough core and spiky skin are not digestible.
How to serve it
Peel, core, cut the soft flesh into small cubes. Skip tinned pineapple: the syrup is pure sugar.
If they eat too much
Loose stools or vomiting from too much; mouth irritation from the acid in some dogs.
How much pineapple for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 23 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · peeled, cored, cubed.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
