Can dogs eat blueberries?
Yes — one of the best fruit treats for dogs.
Why
Low sugar for a fruit, high in antioxidants and fibre, and the perfect training-treat size. Many commercial dog foods include them for a reason.
How to serve it
Rinse and serve fresh or frozen. For very small dogs, squash them slightly so they can't be inhaled whole.
If they eat too much
Loose stools if a dog eats a whole punnet. Otherwise minimal risk.
How much blueberries for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 30 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · rinsed, fresh or frozen.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
