Can dogs eat peas?
Yes — fresh, frozen or thawed, not tinned.
Why
Green peas, snap peas and snow peas give protein, fibre and vitamins A, K and B. Tinned peas are salty. Dogs with kidney problems should skip peas because of the purines.
How to serve it
A spoonful of fresh or frozen peas mixed into food, or as a crunchy frozen treat.
If they eat too much
Gas or loose stools if overfed.
How much peas for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 23 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · fresh or frozen, unsalted.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
