Can dogs eat bell peppers?
Yes — red, yellow, green, raw or cooked; not hot peppers.
Why
Bell peppers are full of vitamins A, C and E and beta-carotene (red most of all). Remove seeds and stem. Chilli, jalapeño and other hot peppers contain capsaicin and cause pain and stomach upset.
How to serve it
Wash, remove stem and seeds, slice. Steam for small or older dogs.
If they eat too much
Loose stools if overfed; hot peppers: drooling, pawing at mouth, vomiting.
How much bell peppers for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 30 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · deseeded, sliced.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
