Can dogs eat parsnips?
Yes — cooked or raw, a sweet crunchy root.
Why
Parsnips carry fibre, potassium, folate and vitamin C. Cooked plain they're easy to digest; raw slices make a good chew for big dogs.
How to serve it
Wash, peel, slice; steam for small or older dogs. No honey glaze.
If they eat too much
Loose stools if overfed.
How much parsnips for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 30 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · peeled, sliced or steamed.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
