Can dogs eat mango?
Yes, in small pieces — remove the pit and skin.
Why
Mango flesh is soft and rich in vitamins A, B6, C and E. It's very sweet, and the large pit is a serious choking and blockage hazard that also contains small amounts of cyanide.
How to serve it
Peel, remove the pit, cube the flesh. A couple of cubes for a small dog.
If they eat too much
Diarrhoea from too much sugar; a swallowed pit needs an urgent vet visit.
How much mango for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 23 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · peeled, pitted, cubed.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
