Can dogs eat soda & fizzy drinks?
No — sugar, caffeine in colas, and carbonation.
Why
Soft drinks give a dog sugar it doesn't need and, in colas and energy drinks, caffeine, which is toxic. Diet versions may contain xylitol. The bubbles cause bloating.
What to do instead
Skip; water only.
Symptoms to watch for
Bloating, vomiting; caffeine toxicity from colas.
If your dog has eaten soda & fizzy drinks, don't wait for symptoms.
Call your vet, or in the US the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) or Pet Poison Helpline (855-764-7661), 24 hours a day. Have the amount, the time and any packaging ready.
