Can dogs eat bone broth?
Yes, homemade or unsalted — no onion or garlic.
Why
Plain bone broth is hydrating, adds flavour to food and provides some collagen and minerals. Shop broths usually contain salt, onion and garlic, so read labels or make your own.
How to serve it
A few tablespoons of cooled, unsalted, allium-free broth over food.
If they eat too much
Stomach upset from fatty broth; allium anaemia and salt from shop versions.
How much bone broth for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 75 g a day — about half a cup · unsalted, no onion or garlic.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
