Can dogs eat milk?
A little is fine for some dogs; many can't digest it.
Why
Adult dogs produce less lactase, so cow's milk often causes diarrhoea. A few tablespoons occasionally is harmless if your dog tolerates it, but it isn't a treat that adds anything.
How to serve it
A splash in a bowl of water, at most, and only if it doesn't upset the stomach.
If they eat too much
Diarrhoea, gas, vomiting.
How much milk for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 30 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · small splash.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
