Can cats eat lemons & limes?
No. Citrus oils are toxic to cats.
Why
Lemon, lime and their peels, leaves and oils cause vomiting and can cause more serious reactions in cats.
What to do instead
Keep citrus and citrus-scented cleaners away from cats.
Symptoms to watch for
Drooling, vomiting, diarrhoea, weakness, tremors. Vet if more than a lick.
If your cat has eaten lemons & limes, don't wait for symptoms.
Call your vet, or in the US the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) or Pet Poison Helpline (855-764-7661), 24 hours a day. Have the amount, the time and any packaging ready.
