Can cats eat figs?

Fig plants (Ficus) are toxic to cats; the fruit is unnecessary and sugary.
What to do instead
Skip, and keep Ficus houseplants out of reach.
Symptoms to watch for
Drooling, vomiting, mouth irritation.
If your cat has eaten figs, don't wait for symptoms.
Call your vet, or in the US the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) or Pet Poison Helpline (855-764-7661), 24 hours a day. Have the amount, the time and any packaging ready.
