Can dogs eat pasta?
Plain cooked pasta is safe but not useful.
Why
Pasta is refined carbohydrate with little nutritional value for dogs. It's non-toxic plain; the sauces (onion, garlic, cheese, salt) are the problem.
How to serve it
A few plain pieces, no sauce, occasionally.
If they eat too much
Weight gain; stomach upset from sauces.
How much pasta for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 23 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · plain, cooked.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
