Can dogs eat corn?
Kernels yes, the cob never.
Why
Corn kernels are a digestible carbohydrate found in many dog foods. The cob is one of the most common causes of intestinal blockage surgery in dogs: it doesn't break down, and it's exactly the right size to get stuck.
How to serve it
Cut kernels off the cob, serve plain (no butter, salt). Bin the cob securely.
If they eat too much
Cob: vomiting, straining, lethargy, no stools — emergency surgery risk. Kernels: mild loose stools if overfed.
How much corn for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 23 g a day — roughly 2 tablespoons (a small handful) · kernels only, plain.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
