Can dogs eat chia & flax seeds?
A sprinkle of ground seeds — soak or grind them first.

Why
Chia and flax seeds add omega-3 and fibre and appear in many dog foods. Whole seeds swell when wet, so soak chia or grind flax to avoid a gel lump in the stomach.
How to serve it
A quarter to one teaspoon of ground or soaked seeds on food, depending on size.
If they eat too much
Bloating or constipation if dry seeds are given in quantity.
How much chia & flax seeds for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 2 g a day — a pea-sized piece · ground or soaked.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
