Can cats eat lavender?
No — lavender is toxic to cats, especially the oil.
Why
Cats can't metabolise linalool and linalyl acetate; diffusers and oils are the common danger.
What to do instead
Keep lavender plants and all lavender products away from cats.
Symptoms to watch for
Drooling, vomiting, wobbliness, breathing trouble. Vet.
If your cat has eaten lavender, don't wait for symptoms.
Call your vet, or in the US the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center (888-426-4435) or Pet Poison Helpline (855-764-7661), 24 hours a day. Have the amount, the time and any packaging ready.
