Can dogs eat crab & lobster?
Cooked, shelled, plain, a little.
Why
Crab and lobster meat is lean protein with omega-3, but shellfish is a common allergen and the shells are sharp and indigestible. Imitation crab is processed and salty.
How to serve it
A small amount of plain cooked meat, shell removed.
If they eat too much
Vomiting, diarrhoea; allergic itching; shell injuries.
How much crab & lobster for my dog?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult dog, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 15 g a day — about 1 tablespoon · cooked, shelled, plain.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
