Can cats eat carrots?
Cooked carrot in small amounts.
Why
Cats can't digest raw carrot well and can choke on hard pieces. Cooked, mashed carrot is harmless in small amounts but nutritionally irrelevant to a cat.
How to serve it
A teaspoon of plain steamed carrot, mashed.
If they eat too much
Vomiting if hard raw pieces are swallowed; loose stools if overfed.
How much carrots for my cat?
A daily maximum for a healthy adult cat, kept inside the 10% treat rule. Enter body weight.
Up to 2 g a day — a pea-sized piece · steamed, mashed.
Treats of all kinds should stay under about 10% of daily calories. Puppies, kittens, seniors and pets with a medical condition: ask your vet first.
